We are so excited to have this Tennessee wedding grace the blog as the first wedding feature of 2016! Planner and Event Designer, Andria Lewis of Andria Lewis Events did an absolutely phenomenal job of coordinated Justin and Nykkia’s pink, purple and black wedding colors.
The couple tied the knot on April 25, 2015 at the Columns at One Commerce Square. Before we share this amazing wedding that we are sure will inspire you, let’s get to know Justin and Nykkia.
How we met
Justin and I met through a mutual friend. We talked on the phone for a couple of weeks before we decided to meet. He asked me out for his birthday, but I declined. We met each other for the first time at his job a few days after his birthday (I always tell him I am the best present he has ever received). We ended up going for a movie and dinner. I remember looking at his debit card saying “Justin Keith Sellers, that has a nice ring to it!” I remember telling my sister in law that I knew Justin would be my husband one day. After dating and building a strong friendship, Justin and I were inseparable. Justin and I are each other’s number one supporters!
The week of my birthday, Justin told me that he wanted to make sure that I was happy for my birthday. That Thursday, I was surprised at my nail salon when I was informed that Justin had already paid for all of my services. The next day he sent two dozen roses to my job and later that night sent me a song by Bruno Mars “YOU ARE AMAZING JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!” Saturday, we spent the afternoon downtown. Then, he told me that we were meeting a few friends to eat. He also told me that his brother and wife would be joining us. So, we were there waiting on his brother – so I thought! The next thing I know my friend and her husband from New Orleans walked through the door! I was so excited. Sunday, my actual birthday, over thirty of my close family and friends accompanied me to church. Church service was wonderful. We all went to Owen Brenann’s for brunch. Justin made the arrangements for a private room. He had a slide show presentation with photos of us and me with my family and friends. He even had my baby, Jerry (my cat), on a picture! He had my friends that could not make it and who lived out town to send in videos! When I saw my friend’s daughter wishing me a happy birthday, I just broke down crying. After the slideshow, Justin said that he wanted to propose a toast. He had the waitress bring the two of us glasses. I said “I don’t need that glass I’m already drinking!” He proposed a toast and told me to read the glasses. Mine read “Nykkia, will you” and his read “Marry Me” I turned around and was balling crying! My dad brought him the ring and he got down on one knee. I’m not sure what he said. The people there say I grabbed the ring and put it on my finger!!! I don’t remember that. All I know is that I was so happy and could not stop crying and hugging Justin!
