Certified Coordinated Bride Rachel
Journal Entry #3
The Real Fiancé of Milton Dickerson
The last few months leading up to my wedding day have been simply amazing. The exciting festivities began with my bachelorette weekend in Miami. I’d never been to Miami, so I was ecstatic about the upcoming trip with my girls. My bridesmaids did a great job of planning the weekend and not sharing any of the details with me…lol! They worked hard to keep everything a secret so the trip would be a complete surprise for me. I have to admit, it was a little hard for me to let go of control, but I eventually allowed myself to do so and I’m glad I did.
When I landed in Miami, I had no clue where we would be staying or what we would be doing for the weekend. My maid of honor text me the address to the hotel, and once I arrived, the hotel room had been decorated in my honor. There were gifts, balloons, food and my absolute favorite, mimosas! My favorite gift was the shirts the girls made for everyone that said, “The Real Bridesmaids of Rachel’s wedding,” and mine, “The Real Fiancé of Milton Dickerson.” It was a great personal touch! I instantly felt so blessed to have a group of girls who would take the time to plan a weekend for me and I was excited to see what was next to come. After I settled down in the hotel, we decided to have a few drinks and we headed to Ocean Drive for an amazing weekend! Without spilling all the juicy secrets, we had great time in Miami. We spent a lot of time at the beach; brunching at this amazing restaurant called Yardbird and enjoyed the Miami nightlife. What I enjoyed most about the trip is that we all got a chance to relax but go out and have fun as well. It was the perfect balance of rest and “turn – up.” My girls definitely threw an amazing bachelorette weekend and I can’t wait to do the same for them!
Once I made it back from Miami, my focus turned to helping my mom plan my bridal shower. My shower was this past weekend at a beautiful home in the suburbs of Chicago. It was an intimate shower of about 25 – 30 people. The menu and drinks were the most important part of the shower to me. Brunch is my favorite meal of the day, so we created a menu full of my favorite brunch foods such as, shrimp and grits, salmon croquettes, berry cobbler and mimosas just to name a few things. Everyone enjoyed the food and the drinks and it created a delightful atmosphere. We played plenty of games, opened gifts, told plenty of stories and truly enjoyed each other’s company. Opening the gifts was my favorite part of the shower because I was given beautiful lingerie by a few of the ladies at the shower. Receiving the lingerie sparked my excitement for the honeymoon and I’m sure all of my brides know why.
I could not have asked for a better bridal shower. I felt so much love and support at the shower that I truly felt like the luckiest girl in the world! Now the bachelorette trip and the shower are over, I am now focusing my attention on the grand finale. I cannot wait for the day to get here and I plan to enjoy every moment of it!
